I was reading a biography of Juan Terry Trippe. One part caught my attention, it said that Juan Trippe was the first to place an order for the supersonic concorde. I am wondering, what happened to that order, I don't think they got any concordes?

That order along with many others from other carriers never came into fruition. British Airways and Air France were the only two carriers to take delivery of the Concorde. Trans World, Delta, Iran Air, Japan Air Lines, Pan Am, and many many others placed intent on buying one, but never did. Fuel costs, competition, and noise regulations made many carriers stray away from it. Especially U.S. carriers...

Only time will tell. Whether the A380 will ever recover it's costs or make a profit for Airbus is a huge question, but it will be built. Airbus didn't just dream this up and decide to build it on a whim, they've spent 10 years refining the design, listening to what their customers want and going over the figures, if it fails then EADS and Airbus are in BIG trouble, of that there is no doubt...... I think the same arguments apply to the sonic cruiser although this is at an earlier stage in it's development to the A380.
