Default WN 737 incident at SMF.

A Southwest 737 overshot the runway yesterday here at SMF.
The thing was stuck up to the engines in mud.

See, the stereotype is true! Not only can't California automobile drivers drive on rain-soaked roads, but apparently neither can their pilots!

At least they didn't crash into a Chevron Station this time. Very fortunate no one was hurt.

Well, let's see, that one in SMF, one in PHX, one in Burbank, 2 in MCI off taxiways that were icey. I think SWA has done a great job marketing and must be fantastic place to work. That said I have witnessed several airshows first hand while flying throughout the country and in their jumpseat. I sure hope they can keep from hurting anyone.

Southwest better incorporate a little (how to keep the aircraft on the pavement & proper speeds for slippery conditions) training into their regiment before these cowboys kill a boatload of people.

Hmmm makes me wonder if their renowned fast taxi speeds make them lose some visual perception of speed at `intermediate' velocities where eyes are taken off instruments and onto the runway itself. Just mulling......but Alaska has HUDS and don't seem to have these problems.

This is one way to eliminate older aircraft from the fleet. Let the insurance take care of it and write off the rest!

Yeah, at least SMF has a lot of room for this kind of thing to happen.
