First look: United 787 Dreamliner
Many of you probably have already seen this, but here is a look at the new Dreamliner for United Airlines, being delivered in September. Honestly, that livery doesn't look bad at all, looks better than in the concept art and renderings. I'm glad the Dreamliner is making its way to being in service in the States.

I`m glad as well
Now the question is who will model it?
I really wish GJ would do the US carriers in 200/400 as I find fault in both the
Phoenix and JC Wings versions

Re: First look: United 787 Dreamliner
I just hope its either Phoenix or GJ. Let them wait until September though, I don't want a model before the real deal.

Re: First look: United 787 Dreamliner
I like the 'swoop', but what about the font, "UNITED"? I think as United fiddles with the original Continental livery, they may as well cant the titles to UNITED (what's old is new again). The vertical text just doesn't seem to fit with the swoop... Outta here, Doug

Agreed! That was the very first thing that I thought was a bit off on the new Livery.

Re: First look: United 787 Dreamliner
Now that is the worst interpretation of the Continental scheme that i've ever seen! God, the 787 looks really ugly in this scheme, now they've ruined the Co scheme completely! Congrats! I really hope they come up with something new and fresh in the near future.. I felt the same when Delta released their Deltaflot livery - One of the most ugliest liveries to hit the skies - Now UA has this title..

Re: First look: United 787 Dreamliner
I guess CO, errrr...I mean United, doesn't have the financial means to revamp their fleet with something a bit more creative. What a pity. Seems so many U.S. carriers have boring liveries these days.

Not to worry - United tends to change liveries with the weather. The slightly modified CO livery on the 787 won't last long... Later, Doug

Re: First look: United 787 Dreamliner
I agree with the above sentiments; the wavy fuselage stripe, separated from the gray belly, looks terrible. Hope the other types in the fleet don't end up like this abomination...

I thought I liked it, but the more I look at it, the less I do... I liked the '60s 'Mainliner' scheme - I'm stuck in the '60s. Doug

Re: First look: United 787 Dreamliner
I agree also with some comments above, United needs to keep the Continental livery on its planes. Maybe for just one 787 wouldn't be a problem, but I question the shareholders why they agreed to put 'UNITED' on Continental planes with the globe on the tail. Glad the president kept the CO tail, but It just doesn't seem right. Since Delta took over Northwest and kept Delta's logo and since Continental's livery was chosen over United's 'U' scheme, then Continental titles should be kept. It simply looks better with 'Continental' titles and a standard gray bottom and gold stripe. I recently got a Hasegawa 1/200 787 kit and though I've built the fuselage, I wish to do it in the 'Continental' livery. I admit Continental is the favorite airline and
Also, I would think by opinion that wings should be painted in gray, despite the weight savings of white paint, but imagine in time oil and hydraulic leaks streaking across the wings would not make white painted wings look all that great when instead gray looks better. Thanks for sharing the excellent photos with us!

Agreed, I definitely have a thing for the stars and bars livery, but I am also warming up to the modern look. I'd like to see less white in not only United's livery, but also most of the other white-based liveries.

I think the livery is nice, but honestly, I don't really care. I will be riding on the first 787 flight on November 4th. Is anybody else?
