Press Release SOURCE: Avolar Avolar Opens for Business CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 12, 2001--Avolar, the business aviation subsidiary of UAL Corporation, announced today at the National Business Aviation annual meeting and convention in New Orleans that it is officially open for business, significantly ahead of the originally planned date. "We are now ready to provide only the best business aircraft, products and services to our owners and customers," said Stuart I. Oran, Avolar president and CEO. "Our program has generated considerably more interest and inquiries than anticipated - and has done so earlier in the process than expected. Customers are clearly expressing interest in our truly differentiated program - one that has the United Airlines 75 year heritage of operational excellence. The tragic events of September 11th have also further heightened interest in private aircraft and in Avolar," he elaborated. "We continue to take orders for shares in our aircraft fractional ownership program and are on target for delivery of our new aircraft next spring," Oran further commented. By early summer, aircraft in all size categories will be available for customers' flights. Individuals and companies that purchase shares today will be accommodated primarily through core aircraft. "The previously announced receipt of FAR Part 135 operating authority from the FAA also now provides Avolar with the flexibility to operate under both Part 91 and Part 135. A number of charter trips have already been coordinated since award of that certificate," Oran summed. Executive Vice President and COO, Tom Davis, echoed Oran's remarks: "Our operations center is completed, staffed and functioning, and flight crews have been hired and trained. We are open and doing business." Notes to editors: Avolar is a subsidiary of UAL Corporation that operates the premier fractional business aircraft ownership program. The company has ordered 306 new aircraft to date, for delivery running through 2009, including the Gulfstream 200, IV-SP, V and V-SP; the Falcon 50EX, 2000, 2000EX and 900EX; the Beechjet 400A; and, the Bombardier Learjet 45 and Learjet 60 aircraft. The company also launched a marketing partnership with Airbus Industries to place up to 15 Airbus Corporate Jets in North America.
