Washington (CNN) -- Sixty-nine employees at the Salt Lake City Airport were arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with lying to their employers about their immigration status and identification. The employees, who are contracted to a variety of companies providing services such as airport screeners, refueling, cleaning and aircraft maintenance, will be charged with lying or providing false or inaccurate information to their employers regarding their citizenship status and other matters. Some will be charged with providing counterfeit, altered or fraudulent social security cards, or for providing false alien cards and other identification proving their citizenship status to their employers. A source at the Department of Transportation Inspector General's Office says none of the charges at this point relates directly to any terrorist activity. Two companies -- Argenbright and ITS -- provide security at Salt Lake City Airport's two terminals. Nine airlines serve the airport. Salt Lake City will be hosting the 2002 Olympics, which begin February 8. Mayor Mel Lastman has pledged to provide the tightest security possible at the airport in preparation for the games, including screening all bags for explosives.
