Well, let's see ... a little delamination here and there ... ehh ... I wouldn't worry too much about it as it should hold up pretty well regardless. Just as Tupé said, there's nothing to worry about!

My folks weren't too bothered if I lived or died, but PAISLEY??!!

Seriously though, when I was reaching the end and nothing really mattered any more, only one thoughtkept me alive, that thought was

'I'll be damned if I am going to die in this hole, imagine the shame!!'

Its one of these places where you can get a Coma and a Kebab on the same night, but, at least it isn't as bad as (shudder) Port Glasgow/Greenock.

I agree with you about the whole Airbus - Boeing thing, it annoys me at times.

Anyway, what I was saying wasn't Airbus versus Boeing as such (although technically it was really), it is the fact that to me, the Queen Of The Skies will always be Concorde, not that flying blob from Seattle they call the '747*. **.

I am led to believe that Boeing themselves call the '747 The Queen Of The Sk.. Skiiiii..... Skiiiiiiiii.... you see, I can't even say it, and I was joking that it was all Corporate propoganda, because nothing came close to Concorde, and they know it!! ***

It shouldn't bother me, it is trivial, I know, but for some odd reason, it does, and for someone in BRITAIN to be calling the '747 the Queen Of The Skies?? sorry, that is quite unforgivable and you should really know better.

You see, the Concorde was amazing and a technical marvel, flawed, but quite brilliant, whilst the '747 is just a scaled up version of a normal airliner, and quite inferior, regardless how how much it can carry****.

Annyway, pointless and off topic rant over, back to the unfolding diraster which is the '787.

Stand under the end of one of the wings of Concorde and look forwards, you will see the wing and the lines of the body flowing forward gracefuly and elegantly, as if they could go on forever.

It just flows, there is no better description.

Then you'll see the '747 for what it really is, an oaffish huge lump with sod all finesse

Come October 2003, the world became a much larger place again, that, to me was truly a retrograde step, and not worth celebrating.

Tell me, what would you prefer, something that is sleek, elegant, and ultra fast, or something that is slow and has a weight problem??

Yeah yeah, The Queen Is Dead, Long Live The Queen.

But I just find it hard to accept. It doesn't matter, I know, but it is as if Concorde never existed, and that is what I dislike. It was better than anything else, and it is gone.

My personal preference would always be for Concorde, or something similar.

Agreed, I also feel the world has taken a SIGNIFICANT step back. That said, though, I find the 787 a rather stylish version of a common designed airliner. Not particularly revolutionary design-wise, but it fits a decided need as laid out by the airlines -- especially considering the fact they were given a choice of Dreamliner or Sonic Cruiser. The airlines all chose Dreamliner.

The A380/747 (Dumbo & Jumbo) are completely different matters. Functional, but not very attractive, IMPO. Regardless, it is unsettling that after years of testing the 787 is now experiencing these issues which stand to hurt the fortunes and reputation of Boeing. Same can be said for Airbus.

But at the end of the day, in my mind, there is no question . . . Concorde is still 'Queen of the Skies'.

Actually, I quite like the 787, it looks good, it is certainly more interesting visually than most of its contemporaries and I hope it does well.


The 747 is ok I guess, but it is hardly very elegant.
