Was just wondering if any one knew what airlines had been runing the longest in both the USA and in the rest of the world. I am not sure of this myself but my guess maybe Hawaiian (1929) for the US airliner and KLM (????) which I know was able to maintain air service inthe West Indies even though germany had shut it down in Europe and Japan shut it down inteh East Indies during WW2. Let me know guys, Thanks

If I remember correctly, pan Am was the oldest airline, but folded in 1991. I think the oldest continuously operating airline is Chalk's Ocean Airways of Miami, though it's been through many owners.
The oldest continuously operating airline internationally I believe is Avianca, which started in 1920.

KLM is considered the world's oldest airline.
It began in 1919.

Avianca, KLM, and Chalks Ocean Airways were all formed in 1919. They are all the oldest living carriers.

Did Chalks suspend operations for a brief period in the mid-to late 80's?

Chalk's more or less was victim to change of ownership several times. It did go through periods of non-operation, but it still was a working entity and did still retain an operating certificate. Pan Am Air Bridge included...
